Department of Clinical Medicine
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
University of Copenhagen

The University seeks to appoint a clinical professor of endocrinology with special focus on pituitary diseases to commence as soon as possible. The externally funded professorship is combined with a consultancy at the Department of Medicine, Zealand University Hospital in the Zealand Region.

It is a requirement for appointment that the applicant is accepted for both the professorship and the consultancy. In order to be considered for the position, the applicant must send two applications: one to the faculty (the professorship) and one to the hospital (the consultancy), cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the consultancy. This also applies to applicants who are already employed as consultants at the hospital. The advertisement for the consultancy is available at Sundhedsjobs.

Both the professorship and the consultancy will be financed by Zealand University Hospital.

Job description
In the consideration of applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of endocrinology.

The professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination. The aim is to strengthen clinical research for pituitary disease in order to provide state of the art care and treatment for patients. The professorship shall have particular focus on rational use of scanning, biochemical and clinical follow-up due to the respect of patient time, geographical distance in the Zealand Region, and general financial challenges in the Danish health sector.

The position will facilitate education and training within the field of pituitary disease to both medical students, doctors in specialist training, and endocrine nurses. The professorship would also be required to participate and organize the teaching of medical students at both bachelor and master level in the newly established medical education in Region Zealand.
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of bachelor and master students as well as PhD students. It is expected that the position will develop a research environment including medical and ph.d. students. The aim is to create a center for pituitary research with particular focus on clinical and epidemiological research.
  • Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
  • Academic assessments
