Consultancy in Rheumatology combined with a clinical professorship in Rheumatology with special focus on Arthritis/Connective Disease
A clinical position as consultant of Rheumatology at the Department of Rheumatology at Zealand University Hospital Koege is open for appointment from as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Rheumatology with Special Focus on Arthritis/Connective Disease at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Department of Rheumatology, Zealand University Hospital Koege wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen. With this tenure a clinical assistant and a project nurse are part of the research team behind the professorship.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Rheumatology Department investigates and treats patients with inflammatory joint and connective tissue diseases, degenerative joint diseases and treats acute/subacute back diseases.
All functions at Zealand University Hospital Koege are handled at regional level in collaboration with the two main sections in Slagelse and Holbaek. We have a close cooperation with Rigshospitalet.
The department constitutes an independent rheumatology in Koege unit with a medical staff of six senior doctors, one head of the department and five training doctors. In addition, four nurses, a large group of therapists (occupational and physiotherapy) and a secretariat. The department management consists of a chief physician and a chief therapist.
The department has a medical day function with a large ambulatory at Zealand University Hospital in Koege with a Biounit with approx. 2500 patients in biological treatment and a medical bed ward with two rheumatology beds.
We have a 6-shift on call rotation from home Monday to Sunday. Education and teaching in everyday life are a high priority. The department has ultrasound equipment, a polarizing microscope and a capillaroscope.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
• Can perform clinical work at a high level
• Can assume responsibility as a doctor responsible for patients
• Can advise and provide sparring to other doctors
• Can contribute to developing high professional quality and safety for patients
Research and teaching
With the new position as consultant in Rheumatology and clinical professor of Rheumatology with special focus on arthritis/connective disease wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Rheumatology.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Zealand University Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Rheumatology Department Zealand University Hospital Koege. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the department of Rheumatology Zealand University Hospital Koege. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of Rheumatology , Zealand University Hospital Koege.
